One of the first entertainment events to air after the terrorist attacks of 11 September, the 2001 EMA featured performances by the likes of Depeche Mode, Jay-Z, Kylie Minogue, and Limp Bizkit with Jimmy Page. The number of regional EMAs jumped to nine from 2000’s eight, with Best Russian Act joining Nordic, German, Spanish, UK & Ireland, Italian, French, Dutch, and Polish honours.
