Charlie Straight are a poppy indie band formed in 2006 in the Czech Republic. In 2010, the band won the MTV EMA as the Best Czech/Slovak Act.

Charlie Straight are a poppy indie band formed in 2006 in the Czech Republic consisting of Albert Černý (vocals, guitar), Michal Šupák (keyboard, backing vocals), Johnny Cienciala (bass) and Pavel Pilch (drums). They have strong ties to the British music scene and fancy Natasha Khan. In 2007, they were discovered by Bandzone.cz (Czech myspace for bands) and later got three Czech Grammy Awards (Anděl 2009) for their debut She’s a Good Swimmer (2009); the Newcomer of the Year, Best Music Video (Platonic Johny) and Best Album. In 2010, the band won the MTV European Music Award as the Best Czech/Slovak Act. In April 2011, Charlie Straight flew to New York City to shoot a video for School Beauty Queen with Yemi AD who has been working with Kanye West on the Runaway video and on tour. Charlie Straight are currently working on the new album (due out in spring 2012) with the London-based producer Guy Fixsen.
