Red Hot Chili Peppers
California funk-punk-rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been blurring genre boundaries since 1983 and are as hip as ever. The band, fronted by Anthony Kiedis and powered by hyperactive bassist Flea is known for both their psychedelic party anthems and soul-baring ballads—like ‘Under the Bridge,’ the song that helped catapult them from the alt-rock underground to the mainstream charts in 1992.
The Chili Peppers have sold more than 65 million albums around the world and have claimed seven Grammy Awards. In 2000, they were presented with MTV’s Video Vanguard Award, honouring artists who are innovative in their music video work. They won the Best Rock Act EMA in 2000, the Best Live Act EMA in 2002, and the Best Album EMA in 2006, for Stadium Arcadium. Their latest album, I’m With You, was released in August 2011.
